Super-humanising the cabbie is the empathetic support platform to help taxi drivers survive technological unemployment due to the cold machinery of self-driving cars. This design project explores technological system design with hardware and software to offer a human, friendly, interaction between a taxi driver and passengers compared to the automated machinery of self-driving cars. The project contains a study of social implications of driverless vehicles, user research on taxi drivers, experiments with technological system design and real field tests. Super-humanising the cabbie can be seen as a way to create a more harmonizing and humanising society. This design will be the trigger to boost the empathetic interaction between a taxi driver and passengers to survive technological unemployment due to self-driving cars.
